Connecting Dayforce HCM to HiThrive

A step-by-step guide for administrators to set up the Dayforce HCM integration and sync your employee data to HiThrive.

Last updated on 18 May, 2026

The Dayforce HCM integration provides a one-way sync of employee details from your Dayforce instance into HiThrive. Setup requires creating a dedicated API user in Dayforce, configuring the correct role permissions, and then connecting the integration from within HiThrive.

What gets synced

HiThrive imports the following fields from Dayforce HCM on a nightly basis over an encrypted connection. No other employee data is accessed or stored.

Field

Date of Birth

Start Date

Email Address

Job Title

Employee ID

Reports To (email address)

Teams

Groups

Step 1: Create a dedicated API user in Dayforce

Log into your Dayforce HCM instance as an administrator and create a new user account specifically for HiThrive. This keeps the integration credentials separate from any individual's account.

  • Name the user HiThrive Integration

  • Set a password and copy both the username and password — you'll need them in Step 3

  • Do not use an existing employee account for this user

Step 2: Configure feature access on the integration role

The API user must be assigned a role that has access to Web Services in Dayforce. You may already have a custom role for this purpose (e.g. "Read Integration User"), or you can configure an existing role.

  1. In Dayforce, go to System Admin > Roles and select the relevant role

  2. On the Features tab, expand HCM Anywhere and enable Web Services

  3. Under Web Services, confirm that both Explorer and Read Data are checked

  4. Assign this role to the HiThrive Integration user you created in Step 1

If you do not see a Web Services Field-Level Access tab on the Roles page, contact your Dayforce HCM representative and ask them to add it to the integration role. This is required for the integration to function.

Step 3: Connect Dayforce in HiThrive

  1. In the HiThrive admin portal, go to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find and click on the Ceridian Dayforce integration

  3. Fill in the following fields:

    • Dayforce Company: The unique identifier for your Dayforce HCM instance

    • Dayforce Username: The username of the integration user created in Step 1

    • Dayforce Password: The password of the integration user

  4. Click Login to Dayforce and wait a moment for the connection to verify

If your credentials are invalid, you'll see an error message. Contact your HiThrive account manager for assistance.

What to expect after connecting

Once connected, HiThrive will begin syncing user data from Dayforce HCM automatically each night. Your first sync may take a few hours to complete.

If the integration ever requires attention (for example, if credentials expire), you'll receive an email from HiThrive prompting you to reconnect.
