The Rippling integration for HiThrive provides a one-way data sync of employee details from your Rippling instance to your HiThrive team. Rippling user data is automatically imported on a nightly basis over an encrypted HTTP connection. Only the fields permissioned (and mapped in HiThrive) are accessed – no other employee details are accessed or saved. This integration also provides single sign-on access for users to access HiThrive (admin, manager reporting, and reward redemption portal) directly from their Rippling dashboard.

What are the benefits of this integration?

Reduced administrative workload

First, this integration reduces the workload for your HiThrive administrators by automating user creation. New users will be automatically populated in HiThrive from Rippling. Users can also be deactivated based on data from Rippling.

Data consistency

Second, the integration eliminates data inconsistency. Users are updated automatically from Rippling, ensuring that your HiThrive data matches your Rippling data. This allows your organization to use Rippling as a single source of truth for user data.

Improved reporting

With more (and more accurate) user data, your HiThrive reporting and administration is also improved.

Please follow the steps below to enable the integration.

Prerequisites

Before initiating the integration, ensure the following:

  • Admin Access: You must have administrative privileges in both HiThrive and Rippling.

  • Rippling App Management Package: This package provides access to the Rippling App Shop, which is necessary for setting up integrations.

Integration Steps

1. Access the HiThrive Admin Portal

  • Log in to your HiThrive admin account.

  • Navigate to the Integrations tab.

2. Locate the Rippling Integration

  • In the Integrations list, find Rippling.

  • Select the Rippling integration.

3. Initiate the Integration

  • Click on the Install to Rippling button.

  • If prompted, confirm that you are the appropriate administrator to install the integration or request approval from a Rippling administrator.

4. Configure Access Rules

  • Determine which employees should have access to HiThrive by setting up access rules.

  • You can base these rules on departments, roles, employment status, or other attributes available in Rippling.

5. Finalize the Integration

  • Review the integration settings and confirm that all configurations are correct.

  • Click Finish to complete the integration process.

Post-Integration Field Mapping

Once your integration is completed, you will need to activate the connection and map user profile fields to HiThrive.

  1. Navigate to the Rippling integration in HiThrive. 
  2. Enable the integration: toggle the integration to on.
  3. Next to Field Mapping, click Edit.
  4. Map fields as necessary. At minimum, you must map email address, but you will want to map all fields that apply (First name, Last name, Employee Type, start date, birthday, etc.). The fields necessary are unique to your desired program design.
  5. Click Save Fields.

If you encounter issues:

  • Integration Errors: Check both HiThrive and Rippling for any error messages or logs related to the integration.

  • Access Issues: Ensure that the access rules are correctly configured and that the employees meet the criteria set.
