Automated celebrations occasionally get missed. The two most common causes are a timing gap between your HRIS sync and the scheduled send, and a data issue where the celebration date was missing or incorrect at the time the send would have fired.
Either way, you can send the celebration yourself without waiting on support. The manual send uses the same celebration rules that would have applied automatically, so the message your team member receives is identical to what they would have gotten on the day.
Before you start
Confirm the underlying data is correct first. If the celebration date is still wrong or missing in the user's profile, fix that before sending. Otherwise the same issue will recur next cycle.
You must be assigned as a HiThrive Admin to use this feature.
Sending the celebration
Navigate to
app.hithrive.com/admin/usersFind and select the team member
Click the three-dot menu (ā¢ā¢ā¢) in the top right of their profile
Select Create celebration
Choose the celebration type from the dropdown: Birthday, Work anniversary, or New hire
Review the matching rules that populate below
Decide whether to include a public announcement
Click Create celebration
Understanding matching rules
Once you select a celebration type, HiThrive shows which rules apply to this specific team member based on their celebration date and your team settings. Two categories appear:
Private celebrations are sent directly to the team member. This is the card, message, and any attached gift.
Public announcements are posted to your team's recognition channel.
Each section includes a Message preview dropdown so you can see exactly what will be sent before you commit. Use it. Previewing takes a few seconds and confirms the right rule matched.
š” If no rules appear for a celebration type, there may not be an active rule configured that applies to this team member. Check your celebration settings before sending.
Public announcement toggle
The Also post public announcement checkbox is unchecked by default, meaning only the private celebration will send.
This default exists on purpose. A public announcement posted well after the fact can draw attention to the delay rather than the milestone. For a birthday missed by a day, posting publicly is usually fine. For one missed by two weeks, the private send alone is often the better call.
Check the box if you do want the public post to go out alongside the private celebration.
What happens next
The celebration sends immediately once you click Create celebration. The team member receives it through the same channels as an automated send, and it appears in their profile and in reporting the same way.
