Learn about how to use Shoutouts
Updated 1 week ago
Shoutouts are at the heart of recognition in HiThrive. They make it easy for team members to celebrate each other in real time—whether it’s for a job well done, a quiet act of kindness, or someone living out your company values.
HiThrive integrates directly into Slack, Microsoft Teams, and the web app to make recognition a seamless part of the workday.
A Shoutout is a short, public message of appreciation you send to a teammate. It can be tied to a company value and may include recognition points if your organization has enabled rewards.
Shoutouts are always:
Quick to send
Public within your company’s recognition feed
Stored for visibility in user profiles and analytics
You can send shoutouts in three ways:
/shoutout or /hithrive)Type /shoutout or /hithrive in any Slack channel or direct message
Select a teammate, write your message, tag a value, and attach points (if applicable)
Submit—your shoutout will post to your recognition channel
Open the HiThrive tab in your sidebar
Click “Send a Shoutout”
Fill in the recipient, message, and points (if available)
Post it to your team feed
Go to app.hithrive.com
Navigate to the “Home” tab
Click “Start sharing your Shoutout” and complete the form
Note: visit the related knowledge base articles for Shoutouts in Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Web for a video walkthrough.
You can attach a core value to each shoutout to help reinforce what matters most to your company. This makes recognition more meaningful and helps your team see your values in action.
Example: “Thanks for stepping up to support the launch, @Alex! Your ownership made all the difference.”
Tagged Value: Ownership
If your company uses points-based recognition:
You’ll see how many points you have available each month
You can choose how many to give with each shoutout
Points can later be redeemed for rewards in the marketplace
Points are not required—you can still send shoutouts without attaching points.
Posted in your team’s Slack or Teams recognition channel
Displayed in the HiThrive Web App
Added to the recipient’s profile and manager dashboard
Counted in analytics for reporting and participation
Q: Can I send to more than one person?
Yes! Group shoutouts are supported in Slack, Teams, and the web app.
Q: Can I edit or delete a shoutout?
Not at this time—but if you make a mistake, you can always send a follow-up or contact your admin who can remove the content.
Q: Do recipients get notified?
Yes—they’ll be notified in Slack/Teams and by email (if enabled).
Go ahead—recognition feels good, and it matters more than you think.
