What are points?
Points can be incorporated into shoutouts (peer-to-peer), awards (manager-only), and birthdays / service anniversaries to add a little extra meaning to the celebration.
How and when are points paid for?
Points are entirely virtual until they are spent on paid rewards, which means that there is no requirement to pay for points in advance. In fact, if you wanted to use points for fun and never turn on a paid catalog, points never cost anything and you never need to fund your rewards account!

Points on shoutouts
Enabling points on shoutouts creates a points-based peer-to-peer recognition program where all of your team members can participate. Points on awards
For a different take on points, you can enable points on awards which allow Users with the Manager user-type to give spot awards (/award) to team members. Points on birthdays & service anniversaries
Add points to your automated birthday and service anniversary celebrations so that your team members can select a meaningful gift for the occasion. Common questions:
How do monthly points budgets work?
All points budgets (shoutouts & awards) are budgeted per User on a monthly basis. Any unused budget will be forfeit at the end of the month and each user will have their budget replenished to the desired amount.
Do points expire?
Earned points never expire! Spend them as quickly as their earned or save up for something really special.
What happens to points when somebody leaves the organization?
When a team member is no longer part of your organization and is removed and/or loses access to your Slack workspace, their points are no longer accessible to them. This is because HiThrive's authentication works via Slack. As a reminder, you only pay for points once they are redeemed, so lost points have no financial impact to the organization.
