To make setup a breeze, consider the following information prior to getting started.
(1) Recognition channel(s)
Decide where you would like to post program announcements, nominations, competition information, and birthday's / anniversaries. Create a new channel in advance of beginning setup (ex. #recognition, #appreciation) or use one already available.
(2) Core values
HiThrive makes it easy to link shoutouts to your organization's core values, drawing the connection between the core values that drive your organization's success and the daily contributions of team members that exemplify them. Make sure that you know your core values for setup 😉.
(3) Org chart (teams & managers)
Having different teams inside of HiThrive allows you to customize the programs and budgets for different user groups. The HiThrive setup wizard will automatically pull any available groups / custom fields from your Slack instance as a foundation for team setup. If none exist, you can alternatively build from scratch or simply assign organization managers (who will have access to budgets for awards).
(4) Budgets for rewards
Rewards are a great way to reinforce the recognition and appreciation for team member contributions. Whether points connected to a major service anniversary (5 years with the team) or a spot award for the completion of a major project, points / rewards are tokens of gratitude for great effort. Budgets for rewards take two forms: (1) a monthly budget per team member that accrues to their manager (given at the manager's discretion and (2) a budget for birthday / service anniversary awards. It is helpful to establish your budget (if any) prior to beginning program setup.
(5) Rewards Catalogs / custom rewards
HiThrive offers four rewards catalogs: (1) Amazon Business, (2) Gift Cards, (3) Charities, and (4) Custom. The Amazon Business, Gift Card, and Charities catalogs cost nothing to turn on and are a meaningful and efficient way for your team members to redeem their points. Alternatively, you can create a custom catalog of experiences / merchandise that are unique to your organization (pizza party, lunch with an executive, company merchandise, etc.) and that you are responsible for fulfilling when selected. If you plan on building a custom catalog, think through which items you'd like to make available.
(6) Rewards Payment method
You can fund your rewards account with any amount (no minimum) or not at all. Your team members will of course only be able to redeem awards when there is enough funding for the redemption. HiThrive currently accepts credit cards as a funding method.
(7) Service anniversary dates
To celebrate team member work anniversaries you'll need to have a spreadsheet of the information available. The setup wizard makes it easy to upload a CSV of the data or to alternatively enter it manually by team member.
(8) Awards
Whether to celebrate the team who worked their tails off to close the deal, the engineering team for a successful product release, or simply to acknowledge a team member who went above and beyond, awards allow managers to recognize accomplishments with something fit for the occasion. HiThrive awards allow you to customize both what the award represents and the design to align to your culture. Think about the moments / contributions that you'd like to celebrate.
